This Riyadh wellness resort explores how the spirit of the Arabic Majlis (a space built for connection and conversation) can evolve in a contemporary setting.
Our approach focused on translating the warmth and grandeur of the Majlis into a lounge experience that feels like home. Traditional Arabic patterns are reintroduced as a backdrop, bringing depth and a sense of cultural soul to the space. Every element – from scale to lighting to colour – works together with care, creating a space that feels open and beautifully rooted in its heritage.
The aim was to honour tradition without replicating it. We wanted to create a space that felt authentically connected to its cultural foundation, while offering a modern experience that speaks to today’s guests.
The biggest challenge was finding the balance between grand scale and warmth. We had to ensure that every detail felt intentional, creating a deeply human space.
The Garnet Hall now stands as a living interpretation of tradition. The grandeur of the Majlis is preserved in its scale and presence, but softened through material choices, lighting, and spatial flow. Arabic patterns layer in quiet depth, giving the lounge its identity without overwhelming the space.
This is a lounge designed for gathering – a place where heritage, architecture, and experience come together to create something timeless.
