The core mandate for this reception space was to fully utilize its dramatic double-height volume, transforming it from a vast, imposing area into a functional, welcoming heart of the home. The design needed to create an immediate sense of awe and vertical flow while simultaneously ensuring that the monumental scale felt intimate, approachable, and human-centric. The space required a powerful visual anchor that could define its verticality and establish a strong geometric identity for the entire project.
The primary challenge was managing the sheer scale of the volume. A double-height space risks feeling cold or disconnected. We needed a singular, commanding feature that could ground the space and direct the eye. Our solution was to treat the interior architecture itself as a massive, functional sculpture . This was realized through the floor-to-ceiling marble fireplace, which acts as the vertical spine of the room. The challenge then shifted to ensuring this monumental anchor and the surrounding wall treatments—defined by sleek, deconstructed lines—integrated warmth. This required a meticulous focus on a rich, tactile material palette to transition the initial sense of awe into personal intimacy.
The outcome is a highly successful convergence of scale and human comfort, where every element contributes to a cohesive experience. The central fireplace and its surrounding sculptural wall treatments assert the project’s identity, acting as the primary anchor for the volume. However, the true connection is solidified through the careful selection of bespoke furniture and the layered material finishes that complete the space. By introducing rich textures and warm tones at the human level, the monumental scale is grounded, and the entire volume—from the geometry of the feature walls to the softness of the seating—feels welcoming, private, and deeply reflective of personalized luxury.
