The Brief

Architecture that flows with the land, not against it

Dunes, Sunstone Oasis is a wellness resort in Riyadh, spanning 60,000 sqm. Its tensile structures echo the soft curves of desert dunes, blending naturally with the landscape. The aim was to create a place where architecture doesn’t interrupt the environment but flows with it.

The resort includes hospitality spaces, housing, restaurants, stables, a golf course, padel and tennis courts, a swimming pool, and open seating areas. Every space was planned to feel open and connected to nature.

The Challenge

Making built structures feel as natural as the landscape

The goal was to design a large, multi-functional space without losing its sense of quiet and intimacy. The challenge was to make the built structures feel natural and part of the land, not imposed on it. This meant shaping the design to follow the site rather than fight against it.

The Outcome

Spaces shaped by air, light, and soft natural flow

The result is a resort that feels effortless. The structure rises and falls with the land, creating a rhythm that mirrors the desert. Guests move through the spaces with ease, surrounded by light, air, and open views.

Dunes, Sunstone Oasis shows how good design can change the way people experience a place.
